Shelburne Harbour is located approx. 200 Kms southwest of Halifax via limited access highway route 103. It is open to navigation year round; Shelburne Harbour is the 3rd largest natural harbour in the world. See Canadian Hydrographic Service Chart #4209.

 

The harbour is approx. 10 nautical miles long with the average depth from 14.6 metres to 8.0 metres at low tide. The turning basin is approx. 550 metres.

 

The Shelburne Marine Terminal is located @ Latitude 43*44’59” N, Longitude 65* 19’ 6” W. The main wharf (TEE) running east to west is 169 metres long and 20 metres wide. The Stem running north to south is 135 metres long and 15 metres wide. The water depth at the TEE @ low tide is 8.2 to 9.1 from east to west and the Stem ranges from 8.0 to 2 metres south to north. Shore power at the terminal is as follows: 110 – 120 Vac. 60 Hz / 1 phase – 30 Amp, 220 -240 Vac. 60 Hz / 1 phase50 Amp. and 220 – 240 Vac. 60 Hz / 3 phase – 100 Amp.

Tide Ranges:

 

Tide ranges from 2.62 metres high to .22 metres low throughout the year.

 

Anchorage / moorings:

 

There is approx. 4 to 5 deep water anchorage points in the Harbour and there are several private moorings owned and rented out by SHYC.

     

 

Small Vessel Marines:

 

Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club located just north of the Shelburne Marine Terminal, they provide the following:

Visiting Yachts:

Daily Rate:                  $1 + tax per foot   min. Charge $25 + tax

Weekly Rate:              $5 + tax per foot

Electrical Hook up:     $4 + tax per day for 15 Amp.

                                  $7 + tax per day for 30 Amp.

Mooring Balls:  (tax inclusive)

$15 per day, $75 per week, $200 per month and Seasonal $300

Boats @ anchor:

Club House Facilities and Dinghy dock charge of $3 per day or $15 per wk.

Shower:                       $3 each

Washer & Dryer:         $1.25 each.

Fees are payable to the Government of Canada (no charge for small private pleasure vessels)

 

Port of Shelburne – Shelburne Marine Terminal:

The facility is available on a first come first served bases, however a reasonable effort will be made to provide requested space to vessels which contact the Port Manager to reserve space for a guarantee arrival time. Vessel must comply with instructions from the Port Manager regarding location and available berthing time.

All daily charges are “per day or any part thereof” and calculated from midnight to midnight. Berthage and shore power fees will be charged according to the schedule set down by the Shelburne Port Authority. All charges are in Canadian dollars and are subject to 15% Harmonized Sale Tax.

Canadian or Foreign Pleasure Craft:   up to 64.11 feet or 19.54 metres         .43 per metre per day

                                                            65 feet and up or 19.81 metres         1.29 per metre per day 

Canadian Fishing Vessel: up to 40’   or 12.19 m –   89.00 per month or   5.24 per day

                                          up to 45’   or 13.72 m – 100.00 per month or   5.90 per day

                                          up to 65’   or 19.81 m – 145.00 per month or   8.52 per day

                                          up to 100’ or 30.48 m – 222.00 per month or 13.11 per day

 

Non – Fishing vessels or

Fishing vessels over 100’ or 30.48 m – 1.29 per m per day

 

All vessels loading or offloading – 1.53.per m per day

 

Note:  Passenger vessels over 100 tonnes with more than 12 passengers must make advance arrangements and charges will depend on security and services.

220 – 240 vac single phase:                50 Amp         29.70 per day   

220 – 240 vac three phase:                100 Amp        49.60 per day

Water:

At the Shelburne Marine Terminal water is available from May to Mid-November. The water comes from the Shelburne Water Dept. which is biologically and chemically safe.

Extra call out charge of 50.00 for service outside 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, week days and any time on weekends.
